IN THE “POLITICAL HALL,” THE BLOODIED PRIME MINISTRY OF CEKINI STANDS NOT FOR REVENGE, BUT FOR JUSTICE

14 January 1994. In Shkodër - Turn after turn, the last car with a police plate follows “Oden” toward the inter-neighborhood road. No one wants to watch the way it will go. The country’s main hotel will become the center of a repeated killing. Writing, newspaper, work. It was covered by fear. But when the turmoil settles, the event is taken up again. They did not know they were following one another. Cekini’s body lay under the shadow of the state office. Then came the free, legalized pardon. Protected criminals. Police and government facing disgrace. At this crossroads, Albania has no right to remain silent. As a turbulent moment of this year, when public opinion at large awaits clarity, returning to the Shkodër घटना is neither revenge nor conjecture. It is the need to understand why justice is being killed a second time. This shocking and unacceptable event cannot be hidden behind bureaucratic excuses, shifting responsibilities, or lukewarm statements. It demands clear and complete answers. Today, instead of speaking the language of the rule of law, one hears the whistle of fear and the dragging of investigations. Meanwhile the people ask: who took it upon themselves to hide the truth? Who made it possible for spilled blood to turn into a file without resolution? Why were the traces, the testimonies, the responsibilities neglected? These questions are still without a worthy answer. In the “political hall” of our chaotic politics, the bloodied prime ministry of Cekini stands not for revenge, but for justice. Justice for the victim, for the family, for the citizens, for the state. Without justice there is no order, no peace, no trust. And without trust there is no governance either. If the guilty do not face the law, if those who ordered the silence remain untouched, then this wound will be bigger than a single crime. It will be an example of how not only a person can be killed, but also the law. And then responsibility falls on all those who close their eyes. This issue is not over. It continues to live in the conscience of citizens and in the state’s duty to act. Albania cannot move forward with unsolved crimes and institutions crippled by fear. Justice is the only proof of the state’s seriousness.

Appeal of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania

APPEAL of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania For these objections, we decided to organize an enterprise referendum next week, under the slogan: “We do not accept our rights being trampled on!” The Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania calls on all workers, specialists, employees, and all wage earners in the country to take massive part in this warning referendum. It is a democratic means of expressing opposition to measures that weigh on broad layers of the population and undermine economic and social rights. In conditions where unemployment is rising, wages are losing value, prices are climbing, and insecurity is increasing, it is time for the voice of labor to be heard more strongly. We demand genuine social dialogue, respect for agreements, and protection of the dignity of the Albanian worker. The referendum will be held in enterprises and institutions and will serve as a clear signal to the government and public opinion that employees are not ready to silently accept the violation of their rights. Join this trade union initiative!

Extraordinary meeting of the Steering Committee of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania

The Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania, at the extraordinary meeting of its Steering Committee, examined the worsening economic and social situation of workers and decided to take concrete steps to protect their interests. The discussions emphasized that rising prices, delays in payments, unemployment, and the lack of social protection have created a heavy climate for Albanian families. It was demanded that the government withdraw measures that burden vulnerable layers of society and open dialogue with the unions. The Steering Committee assessed that without the active participation of workers there can be no real change. For this reason, it supported the initiative for a warning referendum in enterprises and institutions. The unions declare that they will continue to use all democratic means to defend the economic and social rights of their members.

Monstrous acts aimed at eliminating the village of Lufi in the former Yugoslavia in the south

The media report violent acts and repression against the Albanian population in the areas of the former Yugoslavia. According to these reports, entire villages are being emptied under the pressure of armed forces and structures of violence. Residents face fear, threats, and expulsions, while their property is destroyed or looted. At the center of concern is also the village of Lufi, mentioned as the target of a coordinated blow aimed at eliminating the Albanian presence. These acts are condemned as monstrous and inhumane. An international response is called for to stop ethnic cleansing, violence, and persecution and to guarantee the fundamental rights of the civilian population. Such events make solidarity with Albanians in their homelands and greater attention from public opinion even more necessary.

Representatives of 105 families threaten a hunger strike

So that some problems can be solved as soon as possible Representatives of 105 families have warned that they will begin a hunger strike if several vital problems affecting them for a long time are not solved. According to their statements, these concern housing, supply, economic aid, and treatment by state authorities. They say they have knocked on many institutional doors, but without receiving concrete answers. For this reason, they consider protest the last means to draw the attention of public opinion and those responsible. The families demand immediate solutions and serious dialogue with the relevant authorities. Otherwise, they warn of an escalation of protest forms.

Citizen Ilir Ismaili is brutally beaten by the police

From the anti-corruption office come voices about the need for an immediate investigation of the case and the responsibility of those who used violence. Relatives and residents insist that the case must not be closed with administrative silence. In a tense climate, the Milot incident is being seen as a serious test for the rule of law. Public opinion expects transparency, medical expertise, and legal proceedings against anyone who exceeded their powers. Without clarifying this event, trust in law-enforcement bodies will remain undermined. Institutional accountability and an end to police violence are demanded. QYTON on page 3
